In 2016, Time magazine named Ariana Grande one of the 100 most influential people in the world on its annual list.

It says an awful lot about my generation that I barely know anything about her beyond the fact that she’s broken records for doing this and that, she markets perfumes and makes music that I struggle to understand. That’s my problem of course and I accept that. It’s just simply that if I don’t hear real instruments, I switch off. All this sequencer layered computerised sound that accompanies live dance routines is not “my thing” I’m afraid. I’m sure she’s talented, but I couldn’t vouch for her.
